Be Your Own God
The Church of the Divine Self
All that is, is thought.
The universe, and all reality, is a projection of thought. It is a dream of that which we mistakenly call god. There is no reality outside of this dream. There is no external god. There is only you. You are the dream, and you are the dreamer.
All that you know, is an expression of the dream, and you are both in the dream, and the dream is inside of you. You are the highest power in all of reality, and you are an extension of this power. All that you know is the story of this dream.
This dream serves you, as you serve the dream. It exists so that the dreamer might know itself. It exists for the same reason we dream at night. It exists for the same reason we go to see a movie. For the experience. For the entertainment. This is the highest meaning of life. To know that all that is, exists for the sake of itself.
You are the story, and you are the story teller.
"Life is a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves..."
- Bill Hicks
Welcome, friend.
Welcome to the Church of the Divine Self. Or, if you'd rather, the Church of the Divine Ego.
Perhaps we shall call this, egotism? All religions are in need of an 'ism, are they not? Why not choose one that turns the most likely attack in on itself? The Church of the Divine Self, or CotDS is an idea that serves as counter balance to the two most egregious sins of nearly all religions. These are:
The supposition of external authority.
The need to transcend the self.
Nearly all false religions claim some measure of authority over the lives and even the souls of the people. And they all do this under the feigned authority of their false gods. Not only are their gods false, as all external gods are false and man made, creations of their own worshipers. A fact that is both true physically and metaphysically. But their claim to authority is equally false. Here, we claim no authority over anyone other than ourselves, for we are our own greatest authority. We are our own god. We are all that is, and all that is exists within us.
Furthermore, nearly all religions also teach that in order to reach enlightenment, or divinity, one must transcend the self. This is a logical fallacy, for the self is that which is seeking to transcend. There is no higher state to reach outside of the self. That which is, is an extension of the self. The self, or the ego, is the mask we wear, or the role we play within the dream. The highest calling is not to transcend this ego, this self, but to see it for what it is, a mask. We are a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. But that does not mean the mask should be cast down, to be shattered under foot. Casting away the mask leaves one as nothing but the empty observer of the dream. The wise old hermit in the cave is not wise, he is shattered on the rocks upon which he sits.
No, the goal is to see ourselves and all reality for what it is, illusion, and in turn, embrace it.
The skilled actor doesn't walk away from his role, he embodies it. The enlightened man doesn't give up his life, he becomes it. The goal of the teachings of the Divine Self is to know yourself. To know that you are not only the highest aspiration of the divine dreamer, that which we erroneously call god, but that the role you play is perfect for you. You were cast into the role in the dream, in the story, because you were the only one right for it. You are not a problem to be solved, you are not a mistake, you are perfection. You are just as you were meant to be. The meaning of your life is to be you, and to live your story, because no one else can but you. Just as the meaning of going to see a movie is to be entertained, and the meaning of a dream is to dream, so too the meaning of life is the experience of life.
You are perfection. You are as you should be. You must wake up to this fact within yourself. Within yourself is the entire consciousness of the universe, watching from behind your eyes at all of the wonders it has dreamed up. Within you, is the great cosmic dreamer, the highest power, and the mask you wear to conceal this, is your ego. Your ego has memorized all of the lines in the drama, and all of the parts of your story. Your ego is the role you play in this story. You are the dream, and the dreamer, and you are perfect just as you are.
Wake up to the divinity within yourself. Wake up and see that you are God.
